Immediate danger

Call 999 or 112 if there is an emergency requiring police, fire, ambulance or coastguard assistance. Follow instructions from emergency services. PrepperReady cannot report an incident or arrange help on your behalf.

Electricity supply

In Great Britain, 105 connects callers to the electricity network for power cuts. Find network information through Power Cut 105. In Northern Ireland, use NIE Networks' power-cut service. If equipment supports someone's health or care, use their agreed backup arrangements and contact the relevant supplier or care team.

Water supply

Check the water company responsible for your address. Its incident notice should explain any restrictions and what to do next. A boil-water notice, a do-not-drink notice and a do-not-use notice require different responses; follow the notice itself.

Weather and flooding

Read the affected area, timing and advice in the Met Office weather warnings. Flood services differ by nation:

Do not enter floodwater to investigate a route. Follow evacuation instructions and the advice of the relevant emergency services.

Travel disruption

Check the operator for your actual journey before setting out. Use National Rail disruption information for Great Britain and Translink for Northern Ireland. Local bus, ferry and accessible-transport arrangements may have separate updates.

Prepare before the next interruption

Keep these service details with your household plan. The local services tool can help you find the relevant national routes, and Start here gives a short preparation sequence.
