What we want this community to be

A useful place to ask everyday preparedness questions, share things you have tried and learn from other UK households. We want calm discussions, clear sources and room for people with different budgets, homes and abilities.

The reader community is still being planned. We have not opened a forum, accepted members or set a launch date. Any future discussion space will need clear moderation and privacy arrangements before it opens. The updates page explains how to follow the publication in the meantime.

Share advice that someone can use

Explain the situation behind your suggestion. What works in a house with a garden may not work in a rented flat. Be clear about what you know first-hand and what comes from another source. Check the date before passing on guidance or warnings.

Our official sources directory links to UK services and advice. During an incident, use those services for current information. Community advice cannot replace emergency services, medical advice or qualified electrical and gas work.

Keep household details private

Discuss plans directly with the people involved. Ask before sharing someone's contact details, address or support needs. A printed plan may be more appropriate than a group message or a public post.
